CALL FOR SUPPORTERS & PROMOTIONAL MATERIALS

Although we will be meeting virtually this year, our goals of this important conference remain the same:

  • Instill a sense of confidence, energy, and achievement for continued work on behalf of infants and toddlers with special needs, and their families;
  • Encourage connections among all early childhood professionals and families;
  • Promote interventions that support, challenge, and celebrate individual differences;
  • Explore current perspectives, research and trends related to best practice in the field;
  • Expand knowledge of issues affecting the development of infants, toddlers, and families.

If you have any questions, or would like to be added to our conference email list to receive updates, please email MEICconference@gmail.com.

KEYNOTE ANNOUNCEMENT

We are excited to announce that Emily Perl Kingsley will be our Keynote Speaker for the 2021 Virtual MEIC Conference. Emily worked in television for fifty years, the last 45 as a writer for Sesame Street (a dream job!).

As the parent of a son with Down syndrome, now 46, Emily has myriad stories about surviving the “dark ages” when professionals advised institutionalization and gave little hope for any academic accomplishments whatsoever. Her journey and his achievements make a fascinating story about a lifetime of battles, adventures, and advocacy. Breaking barriers and setting new kinds of expectations, starting with the groundbreaking act of including her son on Sesame Street (followed by the inclusion of dozens and dozens of other individuals with disabilities), has created a wave which has changed the landscape of television.
